Obtaining Turkish citizenship
How to Submit a Reminder Request for Nomination for Turkish Exceptional Citizenship for All Syrians
The process is as follows:
A request (dilekçe / petition letter) is drafted explaining your situation. It includes personal information, work information, and some other details related to your circumstances in Turkey. Several documents must be attached to the request, including:
Work or tourist residence permit, or Kimlik (temporary protection ID)
A copy of your university degree, translated
A copy of your passport
A certificate of experience from your workplace, if available
A copy of your student document, if you are a student
These documents are sent to the Directorate General of Migration Management in Ankara via PTT (the Turkish postal service), to the following address:
Recipient: Çamlıca Mahallesi 122. Sokak No: 4 Yenimahalle/ANKARAGöç İdaresi Genel Müdürlüğü – Uluslararası Koruma Daire BaşkanlığıTel: 0312 422 05 00
Within 15 days to a month, you will receive a response in one of two forms:
First case:
your name is already nominated for citizenship, and you are given a list/queue number.
Second case:
you receive a response stating that your application is under review.
In both cases, the response is sent to you via PTT, to the address from which you sent the request — your home or your workplace.
Is this method a nomination for citizenship, as is commonly claimed on social media?
No. It is merely a reminder that a person exists who may be eligible for Turkish citizenship. You may receive a response, or you may not receive one at all.
We always recommend that Syrians update their information whenever even a small change occurs — a change of address, the birth of a new child, or a change of phone number — because if there is an error in the phone number, you will certainly not be reachable. This point is worth emphasizing.
